Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Shorts Video Studio (“the app”, “we”) accesses, how it is used, where it is stored, and the choices you have. Shorts Video Studio is a desktop application that runs on your own computer.
1. Information the app processes
Your videos and media
Videos you open or link to, and the clips, transcripts, captions, thumbnails and titles the app creates, are processed and stored on your computer, in folders you control. They are not sent to us. If you paste a link to an online video, the app downloads it to your computer so it can process it.
Google user data (YouTube)
If you choose to connect a YouTube channel, you sign in on Google's own sign-in page and grant the app these permissions:
| Permission | What the app does with it |
|---|---|
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.uploadManage your YouTube videos | Uploads the clips you explicitly choose to publish, with the title, description, tags, visibility and schedule you review and approve. |
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonlyView your YouTube account | Reads your channel's name, handle and picture so you can see which channel is connected, and reads the status of videos the app uploaded so it can confirm each upload (for example, whether YouTube made it public or kept it private). |
The app uses YouTube account access to identify connected channels and check uploads. It does not request Gmail, contacts or YouTube Analytics permissions. The youtube.readonly permission can technically allow broader YouTube reads than the app currently uses.
Google sign-in gives the app an access token and a refresh token. These are stored only on your computer: in your operating system's secure credential store (such as the macOS Keychain) when available, otherwise in a private file readable only by your user account. Your Google password is never seen or stored by the app.
Other platforms
For TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Threads, the app does not sign in or connect to your accounts. It prepares a caption, copies it to your clipboard and opens the platform's own upload page in your web browser; you post yourself. If you record that you posted a clip, the link you enter is saved on your computer only.
SVS accounts, trials and subscription access
Account-enabled editions use your email address to send a verification code and manage trial or subscription access. The account service stores your verified email, trial dates, a random installation identity derived from an app-generated public key, and access/session records. It does not read your Mac's hardware serial number or receive your videos, transcripts, Google tokens or cloud AI keys. The installation private key, sign-in session and signed access lease stay in macOS Keychain. Reinstalling the app may preserve those Keychain entries.
The account service runs on Cloudflare Workers and a separate D1 database. Short-lived, keyed hashes of connection information help limit abuse; raw IP addresses are not stored in the account database. Verification codes expire after ten minutes, and expired challenge/session/rate-limit records are removed through routine cleanup. Account and trial history is retained to maintain access and prevent repeated trial resets. Contact us below to request review or deletion of account data; limited records may be needed to prevent abuse or meet applicable recordkeeping requirements.
Verification emails are delivered through Resend, which receives the recipient address and message content and handles delivery records under its policy. We do not enable email open or link tracking. Trial access does not require a card or PayPal connection. If you choose to subscribe in a payment-enabled edition, PayPal handles payment authorization; the account service uses subscription and payment references and status to verify access, rather than storing card details. Current private account testing is restricted to the approved owner and PayPal sandbox; real charges are disabled.
Account and payment records are separate from optional usage statistics. Turning usage reporting off does not affect account access or trial eligibility. Signing out removes the local sign-in session and access lease while preserving the installation identity; it does not automatically delete server account history or your projects.
AI-written titles and descriptions
You can choose built-in rules, a local model through Ollama, or a cloud AI provider in Settings. Cloud options include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, or a compatible endpoint you configure. When you use cloud AI, relevant transcript text, instructions and prompts are sent directly from your Mac to that service for ranking clips, writing copy or generating picture prompts. The provider handles that data under its own terms and privacy policy, including its retention and training settings. OpenRouter may route requests to the model provider you select. A custom or remote Ollama endpoint receives requests at the address you configure. Use built-in rules or a localhost model if you want these steps to stay on your computer. API keys are stored locally in the system credential store when available, with a private-file fallback.
Optional country-level usage statistics
Versions offering usage reporting ask before sending any usage report. Declining has no effect on app features, trial eligibility or subscription access. You can turn sharing on or off anytime under Privacy. If you opt in, the app sends at most one successful usage report per UTC day while it is running, containing the event type, app version and consent-format version. Our Cloudflare service estimates the country from the network connection and records only totals grouped by date, country and app version. It does not store your IP address in the analytics database or assign a persistent analytics identifier. Reports do not include videos, transcripts, filenames, email addresses, account details, Google data, license identifiers or precise location. A VPN can affect the estimated country.
We use these totals to understand geographic adoption and which app versions are in use. The service runs on Cloudflare Workers and D1. Cloudflare necessarily processes connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure the service under its privacy policy. Application request logging is disabled. Aggregate daily totals are automatically removed from the active analytics database after 90 days; provider recovery backups may persist for their separate retention period. Turning sharing off stops future reports; existing totals cannot be linked back to your installation for individual removal. We do not combine analytics with licensing or payment records, sell this information, share it for advertising, or track activity across other companies' apps or sites.
2. How information is used
Information is used only to provide the app's features that you can see and control: making clips, managing account/trial access where offered, showing which channels are connected, and uploading and confirming the posts you choose. We do not use this information for advertising, profiling or training AI models. Optional cloud providers handle submitted data under their own policies.
3. Limited Use of Google user data
Shorts Video Studio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features described above.
- It is not transferred to anyone, except to Google/YouTube itself as needed to upload your videos, when required by law, or with your explicit consent.
- It is not used or transferred for advertising, sold, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- No human reads your Google user data. We have no access to it: it never leaves your computer except when sent directly to Google.
4. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information. Uploading a clip sends that video and its details directly to YouTube under your account. Using an optional cloud AI service sends relevant transcript text and prompts to the provider you choose. Media downloads and model downloads also contact the relevant hosting services. These services receive normal connection information, such as your IP address.
5. Storage, retention and deletion
- Videos, clips and project files stay on your computer until you delete them. The app includes a Trash with permanent delete, and a cache cleanup.
- To remove the app's access to a YouTube channel, use Accounts → Disconnect in the app, which deletes that channel's saved sign-in from your computer. You can also revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Uninstalling the app alone may leave settings, cache files and Keychain entries. Disconnect accounts and remove saved AI keys in the app, then delete its Application Support and cache folders if you want to remove local data. Videos already uploaded to YouTube remain there until you remove them on YouTube. Cloud AI providers may retain submitted data according to their policies.
6. Security
Sign-in uses Google's OAuth 2.0 with PKCE. Credentials are stored in your system's secure credential store or in a file restricted to your user account. By default the app's local interface accepts connections only from your own computer.
7. YouTube
By connecting YouTube you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
8. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
10. This website
This website is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare receives normal website request information, including IP addresses, browser information and requested URLs, to deliver pages and provide security. No app projects, Google tokens or API keys are uploaded to this website. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
